Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crossings clubhouse (the Walnut Country HOA Clubhouse, 44965 S Larwin Ave, Concord, CA 94521). We’ll be discussing The Sisters Brothers, a novel by Patrick deWitt. Described as “cowboy noir” and “the most original western since the Coen Brothers re-interpreted True Grit,” this darkly comic story is set during the California Gold Rush, chronicling the picaresque misadventures of two hired guns, the fabled Sisters brothers (excerpted from publisher’s blurb).
April’s book is Bryce Courtenay’s novel The Power of One, which tells the story of a boy coming of age in 1930-1950′s South Africa, amid the aftermath of the Boer War, the rise of Hitler and World War II, and the beginnings of Apartheid. The meeting to discuss the book will be on Tuesday, April 19.
